Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This website is operated by the Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students, Enugu Diocese (“NFCS Enugu Diocese”, “we”, “us”). We use it to publish news of the federation, open registration for diocesan events, and run voting contests for our chapters.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the site:

• Contact details — your name and email address when you vote, register for an event, or write to the secretariat.
• Voting records — the contest, category and nominee you voted for, the number of votes, and the payment reference.
• Payment references — the transaction reference and status returned by our payment partner. We never see or store your card number, PIN, CVV or bank password.
• Registration details — the information you supply on a diocesan event registration form.
• Technical data — IP address, browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site secure and to prevent vote manipulation.

3. Why we use it

• To record your vote accurately and count it once.
• To send you a receipt and confirm your registration.
• To publish transparent vote tallies and contest results.
• To answer your enquiries and provide support.
• To detect and prevent fraud, duplicate voting and abuse.
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by licensed third-party providers (such as Paystack, Monnify or Flutterwave). When you pay, you are handed to that provider’s secure page and your card details are entered there, not here. We receive only the transaction reference, the amount and whether it succeeded. Each provider handles your payment data under its own privacy policy.

5. What we publish

Vote tallies, nominee names and contest results are public — that is the point of a transparent ballot. The email address you vote with is not published. Our public vote records show payment references and amounts so that anyone can verify a count, without exposing your personal identity.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we never rent or trade it. We share it only with:

• Our payment providers, to process and verify a transaction.
• Our email provider, to deliver receipts and confirmations.
• The organisers of a contest or event you took part in, limited to what they need to run it.
• Lawful authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, remember your session, and protect forms against abuse. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles. You may block cookies in your browser, but parts of the site — voting and login in particular — will stop working.

8. How long we keep it

Voting and payment records are kept for as long as the federation needs them for accounting and to resolve disputes. Contact messages are kept while your enquiry is open and for a reasonable period afterwards. You may ask us to delete information we no longer need.

9. Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, and access to administrative areas is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.

10. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you may ask us to:

• Tell you what information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
• Stop sending you non-essential messages.

Write to the secretariat and we will respond within a reasonable time.

11. Children

This site serves students in tertiary institutions and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will remove it.

12. Changes

We may revise this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
